I finally gotten round doing this review on I heart Cosmetics soapwort cream cleanser.. I've been using this for the past 1.5 weeks and look how much I've used! Hee..~
One of the things to note is that I’m terribly sensitive, especially to Optiphen/Optiphen plus. And this product does contain Optiphen plus as a preservative. I’m not going to lie and say it doesn’t sting when I use it.. BUT if you do not leave it on for a long time.. I will say its bearable. AND I bought this knowing that it contains Optiphen plus as a preservative.
With this aside, lets get down to the review.. Firstly, it’s amazing for a cream cleanser.. It feels so luxurious on skin. And smells quite yummy in a natural/earthy way.
I use it to remove my makeup.. Since some days, I would only put on a light layer of foundation and some blush.. I will say it does an amazing job of removing everything. On the days when I do wear sunblock (I don’t skip sunblock on purpose. REALLY! =P), it still does a good job of removing almost everything and unclogging my pores. However, I would also use Classy Minerals/MMBB’s AHA exfo cleanser to ensure everything is removed.
To note, I always double cleanse. It’s hardwired into my genes. I’m a clean freak.. I can’t help it but to double cleanse even though my skin feels clean.
After washing off, it doesn’t leave behind any greasy residue or anything. It doesn’t contain a lot of ingredients to it (hurray for that as I strongly advocate less is more!) and its lovingly made by our geminisc. =P
Would I repurchase? I’m still hold out on that. So far, it’s one of the best makeup removal product I have on hand. It doesn’t dry me out, smells amazing, feels oh so good.. What more can I ask for? Okay, I could ask for it to be Optiphen free I guess. LOL~ I doubt its really possible at this point in time. But the stinging sensation is somewhat uncomfortable even though bearable.
So that’s it.. I shall be nice and leave a teeny bit for Frond/Jo to sample. Heee.. For those interested (and I strongly you suggest to try it), she’s having her birthday sale now! Cream cleansers are sold for only USD$8.50! Click yourselves one!
I’m definitely a nude lippie kinda girl. I just tried on my Oasis Lip Smacks. It is definitely rare to see a gloss being able to achieve the nude lips.. It' is extremely pigmented (which I love) and gives the hint of gloss. I’ve definitely gone to be a lipstick person but this really changed my mind. =P
The rest of my face is pretty blah.. I’m going through a bout of breakouts AGAIN. Thanks to the temperature drop, my skin is feeling really tight again. I decided to skip all Classy Minerals/MMBB skincare products. Actually I ran out of the dead sea mist.. So it’s just the AHA and Purifying cleanser left.
I did a really simple 4 step routine today. Jurllique soothing foaming cleanser, followed by Jurlique daily exfoliating cream, Clinique clarifying toner in no. 2 and my Priori skin brightening complex. My skin still feels like it needs more moisture but upon touch, it feels really supple. So I’m not going to overdo anything in case I break out again. Urgh!
Sorry for the rant post. I needed to rant about this. My skin is bugging me a lot.. On the brighter side, my interview for my Uni application (I decided to transfer out..) is tomorrow. Hopefully it will be successful.. Wish me luck! I would probably need it.
I've been experimenting a little with my skincare routine. More of tweaking it to see what isn't working too well on me.. I've been experiencing dryness on my cheeks, roughness or bumps at some areas so I’m trying to eliminate the "cause". And also I've been eating a horrible diet (busy trying to eat my fill of Chinese food before I leave) and hormonal change (PMS).
What I've been using is a combination of natural and synthetic stuff.. I’m still trying to work out the right combination for my combination dry and sensitive skin.
Yesterday, I did a routine of FANCL Cleansing Oil (to remove sunblock and makeup), Cetaphil and microfiber cloth, Lush Tea Tree Toner and my Priori Brightening Facial Complex.. The result was really soft skin! My Priori managed to sink in completely into my skin. Before this, my Priori wasn’t able to completely sink into my skin, leaving a film on top of my skin.
I’m wondering if its the mandom that’s not cleansing well.. Or the purifying cleanser is drying me out. It just might be a combination of the two. *Sigh* I blame the wonky weather to be honest. It’s just too hot!
Now I’ve to decide which items to bring to Adelaide. I’ve ruled out AHA or any chemical exfoliating products as the sun there is deadly! I guess that doesn’t leave me with much choices.. I’ve some items in mind such as Emu Oil (which will double as an all over moisturiser and maybe makeup remover?), microfiber cloth, my new Eucerin Q10 Anti-Wrinkle Creme for the winter dryness, my ACNES sunblock (hopefully its sufficient), my Lush Tea Tree toner or Classy Minerals’ Dead Sea spray.
DECISIONS DECISIONS DECISIONS! It’s back to the books now. Tata!

Makeup after a long hiatus! LOL~ I look really fair neck below.. But I’ve given up matching my foundation to my neck.. I would look deadly pale and unnatural.

DM's glow in Whisper Pink on cheeks
EDM's PP blush in Waffle Cone
Eyes
DM's e/s in Haute Stuff
DM's e/s in LWG
MM eyeliner in black w/ glitters
Lips
Nada!
Okay.. FoTD aside.. I’ve been rescued by the stuff I bought from Classy Minerals. My skin is absolutely loving the Purifying cleanser and serum (with a single shot of pomegranate oil). My mmu goes on smoothly and face is matte for the whole day. (No, I do not use sunblock.. I’ve not found a sunblock which doesn’t go bonkers on my skin!)
However, I realised the serum isn’t sufficient for night usage. So I’m going to use my really expensive Priori anti-oxidant serum.. I’m really happy to have a good skincare routine again. What was I thinking to stop following my regime?! Geez..
I’m going to test a new skincare routine.. The weather is changing again hence the new routine. *Sigh*
AM
- Creamy cleanser
- Hydrosol
- Juice Beauty Anti-Oxidant Serum (need a cheaper alt!)
- Sunblock
PM
- OCM or Mandom Cleansing Lotion
- MMBB Purifying Cleanser
- Hydrosol
- Moisturiser (still yet to find a HG.. Hopefully CR!)
Weekly Routine
- MMBB AHA Exfo Cleanser as scrub
- Bentonite clay mask
I gotten my hydrosols, oils and clays from a local site, Yours Essentially. Mainly because it’s much more convenient and cheaper (in terms of shipping) to do so. They’re pretty good. I’m sensitive to some mists and hydrosols. So far I’m fine with those from YE.
I’m still waiting for my CR order.. Hopefully it arrives before I leave for Australia. *Sigh* Or else the cold dry weather is going to kill my skin again!
Have you been guilty of not caring for your skin? Sometimes you’ll think that “Ohh maybe I’ll do that mask tomorrow…” And tomorrow came and went without you doing the mask.
So, I’ve been guilty of such charge. I was looking for solutions till I hit this blog post by Jen (Camellia Rose). So Dayna and Jen was discussing about how their DDs weren’t taking care of their skin.. And how Dayna had to lay down the rule of making her DD use her wonderful emu soaps.
Even though I’m a little too old to be Dayna’s daughter, but I felt really really small after reading the post. I do have the soap.. I do have emu oil.. Why the heck am I not keeping a simple skincare routine?
The past 3 days I’ve been doing so.. And I’ve seen the difference in my skin. HOWEVER, I’ve also been drinking the required amount of water daily to keep myself hydrated. It’s about what you apply and what you intake into your body that will help your skin!
So girls.. what are you waiting for? Jen and Dayna have laid down the rules.. Jen’s post has been very informative.. and Dayna has scolded!
My skin is no longer dull and clogged. It has cleared up considerably. To prove it.. Two nekkid photos!
Please start hydrating yourself (and a healthy diet) and keep a good skincare routine. It’s really the only way to having great skin.
